Origin and Story of 出生入死

During the Spring and Autumn period, the philosopher Laozi believed that for a person, appearing in the world meant birth, and entering the tomb meant death. He identified thirteen aspects in humans, encompassing the seven emotions and six desires. He held that these aspects could either nourish life or lead to destruction.

Philosophically, he integrated the concept of 'from birth to death' (出生入死) into these thirteen aspects. Laozi opposed rulers who indulged excessively in their seven emotions and six desires, as he believed such indulgence would inevitably lead to their downfall and ultimate demise.

Thus, he advocated for the preservation of the body, avoidance of unnecessary risks, and the diligent control of one's emotions and desires.
