Story:
During the Southern and Northern Dynasties period, Gao Yan, the Prince of Langya and third son of Emperor Wucheng of Northern Qi (Gao Zhan), attempted to usurp the throne. Emperor Houzhu Gao Wei dispatched troops to apprehend him.
A general interceded for Gao Yan, saying: "The Prince of Langya is young, 'nao man chang fei' (meaning with a full head and fat gut, implying immature and foolishly indulged), and his actions are thoughtless. He will surely change when he grows up. I beg you to pardon him."
Emperor Houzhu released Gao Yan on the spot, but not long after, he sent assassins to murder him.
