Xiao Gang, the third son of Emperor Wu of Liang during the Southern Dynasties, was intelligent and had an excellent memory from a young age. He read remarkably fast, capable of taking in ten lines at a time, and possessed an eidetic memory. By the age of 11, he had extensively read many books and was skilled at writing poetry and essays. Consequently, he was appointed as General Xuanhui and Prefect of Danyang.
