Story:
During the reign of Emperor Jingzong of the Tang Dynasty, the imperial court engaged in extensive construction projects and extravagant spending.
Du Mu, deeply angered by this, penned 'The Ode to A'fang Palace'. In this work, he meticulously described the immense prosperity and grandeur of the Qin Dynasty's A'fang Palace, which was eventually set ablaze by Xiang Yu, the Hegemon-King of Western Chu. The palace burned for three months before being completely consumed by the fire.
Du Mu used this historical allegory to subtly criticize the contemporary rulers, hoping they would learn from the downfall of the Qin Dynasty.
