Legend has it that in ancient China, there was a mythical bird called Peng, which transformed from a giant fish named Kun. Its back was thousands of li long. Every June, it would fly to the 'Heavenly Lake' in the South Sea.
With a single flap of its wings, it would stir up waves three thousand li high. Riding a whirlwind, it could soar ninety thousand li into the sky in an instant.
Some small birds, puzzled, asked it, 'Why do you fly to the edge of the sky, ninety thousand li away?'
Later, people based this story on the idiom 'Peng Cheng Wan Li' (鹏程万里), using it to describe a very promising and boundless future.
