Story:
During the Tang Dynasty, there was an excellent doctor named Meng Fu. He lived in the capital, Chang'an, and was often invited to the palace to treat the emperor and his concubines. Due to his frequent visits, he became very familiar with everything in the imperial palace, and was particularly struck by the extravagant and dissipated lives led by its residents.
Later, when Huang Chao's rebel army attacked Chang'an, he was terrified and hastily fled to Sichuan. In Sichuan, Meng Fu missed the palace life. He began to decorate his home based on his memories, mimicking the palace's opulent arrangements. He made his house as splendid as the imperial palace.
In one particularly well-lit room, Meng Fu covered all surfaces with thin sheets of gold paper. Under the sunlight, the entire room sparkled with golden light, making it feel as if one were living in a house made of gold. Everyone who visited this room would say, 'Resting here for a while makes one feel intoxicated and immersed in the dazzling golden paper.'
