Story:
During the late Spring and Autumn period, Yan Ying, the Chancellor of the State of Qi, was dispatched as an envoy to the State of Chu.
The King of Chu attempted to humiliate him in various ways. First, he was made to enter the city through a small side gate. Then, the King ridiculed his height and served him the worst food.
Finally, he tried to shame Yan Ying by presenting two prisoners from Qi. However, Yan Ying's neither servile nor overbearing demeanor and his exceptional diplomatic skill consistently turned the tables, causing the King of Chu to ultimately bring shame upon himself.
