Story:
During the Spring and Autumn period, Confucius advocated for benevolent governance and believed that people should possess humanity and righteousness.
Confucius told his student Zizhang that achieving 'ren' (benevolence) meant practicing five virtues: respectfulness, tolerance, trustworthiness, diligence, and kindness.
Respectfulness means having no insolent thoughts; tolerance means having a broad mind; trustworthiness means having no deceptive intentions; diligence means having no laziness; and kindness means having no harshness. Therefore, one should not decline to act when it comes to doing what is right or benevolent.
