Story:
During the Spring and Autumn period, Confucius held Yan Hui in the highest regard among his students, and Yan Hui, in turn, deeply respected Confucius. Yan Hui would immediately correct any shortcomings Confucius pointed out.
Confucius once asked him why he didn't seek an official position. Yan Hui replied that as long as he absorbed his teacher's moral principles and knowledge, there was no need to become an official.
Confucius praised Yan Hui, saying that even with only a basket of rice to eat and a gourd of water to drink, he remained perfectly content and found joy in his simple life.
