rèn仞
An ancient unit of length, approximately eight or seven 'chi' (a Chinese foot) during the Zhou dynasty, where one 'chi' was about 23 cm. It's often used to describe immense height, as in 'shān gāo wàn rèn' (mountain ten thousand ren high).
这座山峰高耸入云，犹如万仞绝壁。
This mountain peak soars into the clouds, resembling a ten-thousand-ren sheer cliff.
To measure the depth of something; to fathom.
