Chinese Character Worksheet Generator

Turn lesson characters into a handwriting worksheet. Choose a layout, download a PDF, and scan the first-page QR code to watch stroke order and practice.

Up to 500 input characters and 24 different Chinese characters. Repeated characters are listed once; punctuation and Latin text are ignored. Simplified-character lessons are the focus of this first version.

About this tool

Create Chinese writing practice sheets for a classroom, weekend Chinese school or home lesson. Each character has a cumulative stroke-order guide, a model character, fading tracing and blank practice cells.

A small QR code in the top-right corner of the first page opens all of the worksheet characters for stroke animation and finger tracing. No student account is required.

What it does

Three sizes for different learners

Choose six large cells for young learners, nine standard cells, or twelve compact cells for review.

Tian zi ge and mi zi ge

Cross guides or cross-and-diagonal guides help learners place every stroke. All sheets are black-and-white print friendly.

Focus on handwriting

Edit the input text to add, remove or reorder characters. Pinyin and English meanings are left out so the sheet stays focused on writing, without guessing a reading or meaning for isolated characters. Your latest prepared draft stays in this browser.

One learning link for the whole worksheet

Scan the first-page QR code to watch stroke order and trace every character on a phone. The short link uses a worksheet ID; it does not embed the character list.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Chinese worksheet generator free?

Yes. The PDF is generated in your browser. Its character list is saved for the QR companion, with no account or payment required.

Why are pinyin and English meanings omitted?

An isolated character can have several readings and meanings. This tool focuses on stroke order and handwriting; pronunciation and vocabulary should be taught in the context of your lesson.

Can I choose A4 or Letter?

Yes. Both sizes have a page preview. English (US) browsers default to Letter; other browsers default to A4. You can switch either way.

What happens if stroke data is missing?

The tool identifies the affected characters and blocks PDF export until you retry or remove them from the input and prepare again. It never silently leaves those rows out.

Does the printed QR code change after editing?

No. Its worksheet ID points to an immutable saved character list for the whole worksheet. Reordering or changing the characters requires a new PDF; the old printed link stays unchanged.

Does it support traditional Chinese or zhuyin?

This version focuses on character writing without phonetic labels. Input characters are preserved; stroke data follows mainland Chinese conventions. Traditional-focused layouts and zhuyin are outside this MVP.
