About this tool
Create Chinese character images for flashcards, lesson slides, title cards and design mock-ups without installing Chinese fonts. Enter a character, word, name or short phrase, then use the default stroke outlines or choose a supported Song, sans or Kai typeface. Optional pinyin appears above the characters and can be corrected before download.
The Chinese character editor lets you work with individual strokes in the image. For example, highlight the 氵 strokes in 清 for a lesson on character components, or remove a stroke to create a missing-stroke exercise. Open Edit character parts, choose a character and tap its strokes or their numbered buttons. Select radical strokes is available when the character data includes that selection.
Highlight some strokes and remove others in the same image, including across several characters. Edits use the stroke-outline style; clear them before switching to a different typeface. Download a white-background PNG for a finished card or a transparent PNG to place over your own background. Character editing changes the rendered image while preserving your input text.
What it does
Chinese character stroke editor
Select a character in Edit character parts and tap whole strokes to highlight or remove them. Use the enlarged character or numbered stroke buttons, and clear edits for one character or the entire image.
Highlight radicals and character parts
Choose a highlight color to distinguish a component from the rest of a character. The Select radical strokes shortcut selects the radical when that information is available; other parts can be selected stroke by stroke.
Remove selected strokes from the image
Choose the transparent swatch and select the strokes you want to hide. Combine removed and highlighted strokes to make missing-part exercises or component comparisons. Removed areas stay clear in the transparent PNG.
Chinese text images with pinyin
Show tone-marked pinyin above the characters. Tap a character in the pronunciation editor to correct its reading, including characters with more than one pronunciation, before exporting the image.
Stroke outlines, Song, sans and Kai styles
Use stroke outlines for character editing, or compare three font styles for an unedited text image. Font choices are checked against your text, while stroke editing requires outline data for each character you want to edit.
White or transparent PNG downloads
Set the main text color, add a separate highlight color when editing, and download the result as a PNG. Choose a white background for a complete image or transparency for layering over slides and designs.
How to use it

Frequently asked questions
How can I edit a Chinese character online?
Enter your text, click Generate and open Edit character parts. Choose a character, select the highlight color or transparent swatch, then tap strokes in the enlarged character or use the numbered stroke buttons. You can edit multiple characters in the same image and download the result as a PNG.
Can I highlight a Chinese radical or another character component?
Yes. Choose a highlight color, then select the strokes that form the part you want to emphasize. Select radical strokes is a shortcut for characters whose data includes radical-stroke information. Other components can be selected manually; the tool does not automatically identify every component.
Can I remove strokes from a Chinese character image?
Yes. In Edit character parts, choose the transparent swatch and tap whole strokes to hide them. Removed strokes are transparent in the preview and transparent PNG. The regular PNG places the result on a white background. This changes the image, not the original text.
Can I highlight some strokes and remove others in one image?
Yes. Highlight and removal can be combined within one character and across several characters. A stroke can have one effect at a time: highlighting a removed stroke restores it in the highlight color, while removing a highlighted stroke makes it transparent.
Can I create Chinese text images with pinyin and correct the pronunciation?
Yes. Generate an image, then turn on Pinyin above the characters. Tap a character in the pronunciation editor to choose its reading. Your correction appears in the exported image, and pinyin can be combined with highlighted or removed strokes.
How do I download Chinese text with a transparent background?
Click Download transparent PNG after checking the preview. The background and any removed stroke areas stay transparent, while the remaining characters, highlights and optional pinyin remain visible. Use Download PNG if you want a white background instead.
Can I edit strokes in the Song, sans and Kai typefaces?
Character editing uses the Stroke outlines style. When you apply a stroke edit, the image uses those outlines and the font choices are disabled. Click Clear edits to return to the other typefaces. Text color and optional pinyin are also available for font-based images.
Why are some characters dimmed or some fonts missing?
A dimmed character in the editing panel has no stroke-outline data available, so its strokes cannot be selected. Font thumbnails are checked separately: a font is omitted if it cannot render all the characters in your text. Font coverage and editable stroke coverage are different requirements.
Can I redraw strokes or create a new Chinese font?
The editor works with existing whole-stroke outlines. It lets you highlight or hide strokes, but does not redraw, move or reshape them and does not create an installable font. Your original Chinese text stays unchanged.
What resolution are the PNG images?
Stroke-outline images use 150-pixel character cells, plus margins and space for optional pinyin. The total image dimensions depend on the text layout. Font-based images use their own renderer. There is no export-size or DPI control, so check the downloaded pixel dimensions against your intended display or print size.
Can I use simplified and traditional Chinese characters?
You can enter either writing system. Available fonts and editable strokes depend on coverage for the exact characters you enter. The tool preserves your input and does not automatically convert between simplified and traditional Chinese.
