During the Warring States period, King Zhaowang of Yan invited wise men like Zou Yan from the State of Qi to help govern his kingdom. However, some people in Yan, dissatisfied with Zou Yan, slandered him before the King, leading to Zou Yan's unjust imprisonment.
It was then, in the midst of summer, during the sixth month, that a heavy snowstorm inexplicably fell. King Zhaowang, seeing this unnatural phenomenon, realized the injustice Zou Yan had suffered and promptly ordered his release.
