融融泄泄 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “Harmonious and joyful”. A scene of cheerful chatter and pleasant conversation. Literally, “warm and chattering; harmonious and laughing”.
During the Spring and Autumn period, after Duke Wu of Zheng died, his eldest son Wusheng ascended the throne as Duke Zhuang of Zheng. Listening to his mother's request, he enfeoffed his younger brother Gongshu Duan with the city of Jing.
Duan, relying on his mother's favor, planned a rebellion. Duke Zhuang sent troops to suppress him. He hated his mother, Wu Jiang, so much that he swore they would not meet again until they reached the Yellow Springs (the underworld).
Later, regretting his harsh words, he ordered a tunnel to be dug so he could meet his mother underground. When they finally met, both their hearts were 'rong rong xie xie', filled with warmth and harmony, signifying their reconciliation and quiet joy.
