During the reign of Duke Xian of Jin, internal conflicts were sharp and intense. Duke Xian's concubine, Li Ji, who was favored by him, colluded with two other favored officials, Liang Wu and Dongguan Pi Wu, to help her son usurp the throne. People at that time referred to this sinister alliance as 'Er Wu Ou'.
