菟裘归计 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “a plan to retire from public life or return to one's hometown in old age”. Literally, “Túqiú return plan”.
During the Spring and Autumn period, after Duke Hui of Lu died, Duke Yin of Lu, born to his second wife, succeeded to the throne.
After ruling for 11 years, he planned to abdicate in favor of Duke Huan. A high official, Yufu, urged him to kill Duke Huan.
Duke Yin replied that he intended to build a house in Túqiú and retire there. Yufu, however, turned around and slandered Duke Yin to Duke Huan, then arranged for Duke Yin's assassination.
Duke Yin was murdered before his 'Túqiú return plan' could be put into effect.
