Story:

During the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the renowned calligrapher Wang Xizhi was exceptionally talented in his youth. Grand Commandant Xi Jian held him in high regard and wished to betroth his daughter to him. Thus, he dispatched an envoy to Wang Dao, Wang Xizhi's uncle, to propose the marriage.

Wang Dao led the envoy to the east wing of the house, where several eligible young men were gathered. Among them, only Wang Xizhi was found lying casually on the east bed, baring his chest and belly, engrossed in eating. All the other young men were behaving formally and respectfully.

The envoy returned and reported to Xi Jian, describing the young man on the east bed who lay with his belly exposed as the one who stood out. Xi Jian, upon hearing this, was delighted, recognizing Wang Xizhi's unconventional yet distinguished character, and ultimately chose him as his son-in-law.
