When Emperor Wu of Wei passed away, his son, Emperor Wen, succeeded him. Emperor Wen brought his father's concubines into his own imperial harem for personal use, indulging in excessive debauchery day and night.
Consequently, Emperor Wen fell ill. Empress Dowager Bian came to visit him and, upon seeing Emperor Wu's concubines serving Emperor Wen, felt it was a grave violation of moral principles. She sternly rebuked Emperor Wen, saying, 'Even dogs and rats would not eat your leftovers. You deserve this death!'
Not long after, Emperor Wen passed away, and Empress Dowager Bian did not even attend his funeral.
