Story:
During the Spring and Autumn period, Shu Xiang, a man from the State of Jin, paid a visit to Han Xuanzi, a high official. Han Xuanzi lamented that although he held the title of a high official, his actual wealth was very meager.
To Han Xuanzi's surprise, Shu Xiang congratulated him. Shu Xiang then explained that in the past, when Luan Wuzi was a high official, he possessed only one servant and about a hundred qing of land, yet he earned everyone's deep respect.
In stark contrast, Luan Wuzi's son, Huanzi, who succeeded him as a high official, became consumed by greed for wealth, accepting numerous bribes, which nearly led to his own downfall and demise.
This story highlights the destructive nature of limitless avarice.
