杏林春满 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “a flourishing medical practice”. Superb medical skills, often associated with a benevolent doctor. Literally, “Apricot grove full of spring”.
During the Three Kingdoms period, there was a renowned physician named Dong Feng. He treated people for free every day, and his medical skills were so superb that he often cured illnesses instantly.
When patients wanted to offer him gifts, he firmly refused. Instead, he simply asked them to plant an apricot tree in front of his house.
Over time, 100,000 apricot trees were planted around his residence, and in spring, their blossoms were exceptionally beautiful. Dong Feng then used the apricots from these trees to assist the poor and needy.
