Story:
During the Spring and Autumn period, Confucius, a wise scholar, held strong convictions about his profound wisdom and benevolent philosophy. He believed that if given the opportunity, he could bring about positive societal changes very quickly.
While serving in an administrative role, he observed that his principles were not fully embraced due to the strong influence of powerful factions. He often lamented, 'If someone were to employ my methods, significant achievements could be seen in just a month, and a flourishing society within three years.' However, he was never fully empowered to implement his vision.
He then articulated his principle: 'When ethical governance prevails, one should take office; when it does not, one should retreat.' Therefore, he embarked on a journey, traveling through various territories to share his teachings and seek a receptive leader.
