一枕邯郸 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “an illusory dream”. A pipe dream; a fleeting fantasy of wealth and power, often referring to worldly ambitions that prove to be vain. Literally, “A Handan dream”.
Once upon a time, a down-and-out scholar named Lu Sheng met a Taoist priest named Lu Weng at an inn in Handan.
Lu Weng gave him a pillow. At that moment, the innkeeper had just started cooking yellow millet rice.
Lu Sheng took a short nap, and in his dream, he passed the imperial examination, became a prime minister, married a beautiful wife, had many children and grandchildren, and lived a life of great fulfillment.
When he woke up, the innkeeper's yellow millet rice hadn't even finished cooking yet.
