During the Tang Dynasty, An Lushan, a military governor, launched a rebellion. Emperor Xuanzong appointed Guo Ziyi, the military governor of Shuofang, to suppress the revolt.
Guo Ziyi was known for his uncanny ability to foresee the enemy's moves (料敌如神). He decisively defeated rebel general Zhou Wanqing, repelled Gao Xiuyan, and successfully recaptured areas such as Fangzhong and Mayi.
Later, he joined forces with Li Guangbi, the military governor of Hedong, to defeat Shi Siming. As a result of his exceptional strategic foresight and military achievements, he was highly valued and trusted by Emperor Suzong.
