During the Chu-Han Contention, Xiang Yu led an army of 8,000 young men from Jiangdong to attack the Qin forces. They fought bravely and their power grew significantly.
However, due to Xiang Yu's arrogance and stubbornness, he ignored his subordinates' advice and acted on his own will. He was eventually surrounded by Liu Bang's Han army at Gaixia, near the Wu River.
