一场误会 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “a misunderstanding”. A mistaken belief or impression about something or someone. Literally, “A misunderstanding”.
Towards the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Guan Yu, after passing five checkpoints and slaying six generals, was on his way to Ruyuan. Passing through an ancient city, he met Zhang Fei.
Zhang Fei, mistakenly believing Guan Yu had surrendered to Cao Cao, immediately raised his sword to attack him. Guan Yu's explanations were futile, and even the testimony of Liu Bei's two wives could not convince Zhang Fei.
Just then, Cao Cao's pursuing general, Cai Yang, arrived with his troops. Guan Yu killed Cai Yang, which finally cleared up Zhang Fei's misunderstanding, and they reconciled as before.
