歌声绕梁 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “describing singing that is so melodious and beautiful that its sound seems to linger and echo, as if reverberating around the ceiling beams”. Literally, “Singing voice lingering around the beams”.
During the Warring States period, there was a singer named Han E from the State of Han who made a living by performing.
One day, she sought lodging at an inn but was turned away by the owner. She had no choice but to sing a mournful song outside the inn. Her poignant voice deeply moved the guests inside, who became so engrossed that they lost their appetite and couldn't eat or drink. The innkeeper, seeing this, reluctantly invited her to stay and perform.
Before she departed, Han E sang a cheerful and melodious tune. Even three days after her departure, the beautiful and enchanting echoes of her singing seemed to still linger and reverberate around the inn's ceiling beams.
