During the late Qin Dynasty, Liu Bang was based in Chenliu County. A local scholar named Li Yiji, known for his extraordinary talent, sought to join Liu Bang.

However, Liu Bang, dismissive of Confucian scholars, initially refused to grant him an audience. Greatly angered, Li Yiji glared fiercely, his eyes wide, and gripped his sword, declaring to the attendant that he was a 'Gao Yang wine-drinker' (a term for a free-spirited, uninhibited person).

Upon hearing this, Liu Bang immediately changed his mind and met with Li Yiji.

Subsequently, Li Yiji became one of Liu Bang's most valuable strategists, providing crucial advice that helped Liu Bang unify the empire.
