During the Spring and Autumn Period, the State of Xing was invaded by the Di people from the north and sought help from the State of Qi. Prime Minister Guan Zhong immediately reported the situation to Duke Huan of Qi.
Duke Huan seemed a bit hesitant. Guan Zhong advised, 'We cannot ignore the descendants of Duke of Zhou. A state that indulges in ease and comfort is like drinking poisoned wine.'
Convinced by Guan Zhong's words, Duke Huan decided to dispatch troops to rescue the State of Xing.
