Origin and Story of 班荆道旧
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Wu Can of the State of Chu and Zi Chao of the State of Cai were good friends. Their sons, Wu Ju and Sheng Zi, were also close friends.
Wu Ju fled to the suburbs of the Zheng capital because his father-in-law, Prince Bian, committed a crime. There he met Sheng Zi. Upon meeting, they immediately pulled up thorny bushes from the roadside, spread them on the ground, and sat facing each other, pouring out their hearts.
Sheng Zi later successfully helped Wu Ju clear his name.
