明公正道 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “Open and aboveboard”. Fair and square; in an honest and straightforward manner.
On the Dragon Boat Festival, the Jia family naturally held a grand banquet. After the banquet dispersed, Jia Baoyu went to find Lin Daiyu, but Daiyu was simply sullen and ignored him.
Qingwen came to help Baoyu change clothes, but unfortunately dropped a fan and damaged it. Baoyu, angered, scolded her for being careless.
Qingwen, not to be outdone, talked back to him. Xiren quickly stepped in to mediate. Qingwen then retorted that Xiren, despite all her 'fair and proper' ways, still hadn't achieved the status of a proper young lady.
