Story:
During the Spring and Autumn period, Confucius led his disciples on travels through various states. After experiencing illness in Xinzheng, they had to stay there for several months.
One day, his disciple Fan Chi asked Confucius how to do farm work. Confucius was displeased and, contrary to his usual habit of teaching tirelessly, admitted that he was not as skilled as an experienced farmer.
Fan Chi then had to seek advice from local farmers, and eventually succeeded in growing gourds, broad beans, and other vegetables.
