Legend has it that during the Zhou Dynasty, Marquis Sui, whose surname was Ji and who ruled the 'Kingdom of Handong,' once rescued a snake while hunting in the wild. He brought it home and cared for it.
Later, the snake repaid his kindness by spitting out a large luminous pearl, which came to be known as 'Sui Hou's Pearl'.
