青州从事 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “a term for excellent quality wine or fine liquor”. Good vintage.
During the Wei and Jin dynasties, a registrar under Huan Wen was skilled at distinguishing good wine from bad.
He called good wine 'Qingzhou Assistant' (青州从事) because Qingzhou had a Qi Commandery (齐郡), and 'Qi' (齐) was a homophone for 'qi' (脐, navel), implying that the potency of good wine reached the navel.
He referred to inferior wine as 'Pingyuan Inspector' (平原督邮) because Pingyuan Commandery had a Ge County (鬲县), and 'Ge' (鬲) was a homophone for 'ge' (膈, diaphragm), suggesting that the potency of inferior wine only reached the chest and abdomen.
