Story:

After Liu Bang established the Western Han Dynasty, he enfeoffed Fan Kuai, who had distinguished himself at the Feast at Hong Gate, as the 'Marquis of Wuyang.'

Fearing that General Han Xin would wield too much power, Liu Bang stripped him of his military authority and made him the King of Chu, later demoting him to Marquis of Huaiyin.

Once, as Han Xin walked past Fan Kuai's gate, Fan Kuai, who came from a family of dog butchers, knelt to welcome Han Xin.

Afterwards, Han Xin regretted and felt ashamed to have been associated with someone like Fan Kuai.
