In 131 BC, Anwu Hou Tian Fun married the daughter of the King of Yan. Wei Qi Hou Dou Ying, who had fallen out of favor, and General Guan Fu were ordered by the Empress Dowager to attend the wedding banquet to offer their congratulations.
During the banquet, Guan Fu offered a toast, but Tian Fun and his retinue ignored him. Enraged, Guan Fu publicly cursed them. In retaliation, Tian Fun had Guan Fu's entire family arrested.
The Empress Dowager intervened, and Guan Fu was eventually executed. Dou Ying also fell victim to rumors and was subsequently killed.
