Story:

In the late Tang Dynasty, Luo Shaowei, the Jiedushi (military governor) of Weibo, feared his own guard corps might rebel against him. He dispatched his trusted aide, Zang Tingfan, to seek assistance from his in-law, Prince Liang Zhu Wen.

Zhu Wen, taking advantage of his daughter's funeral, sent troops to eliminate Luo Shaowei's guard corps and subsequently occupied Weizhou. Luo Shaowei was then forced to provide military provisions.

By 'inviting a wolf into his house,' he made a grave error and was filled with profound regret.
