Story:

During the Spring and Autumn period, Duke Ai of Qi, a vassal state, was executed by the Zhou Emperor because Duke Hou of Ji, the ruler of another vassal state, had slandered him to the Emperor.

The subsequent rulers of Qi never forgot this grievance.

It was not until Duke Xiang of Qi, the ninth descendant of Duke Ai, mobilized his army to attack and ultimately destroy the state of Ji, thereby settling this "nine-generation feud."
