Story:

During the reign of King Wu of Zhou, a virtuous minister named Shao Bo was dispatched to inspect the southern territories. He governed with great benevolence, implementing policies that significantly eased the burdens on the common people. However, his actions drew opposition and slander from other powerful ministers. To demonstrate his unwavering loyalty and integrity, Shao Bo ultimately met his end beneath a sweet pear tree (甘棠树).

After his passing, the local populace, deeply grateful and heartbroken, cherished his memory so much that they vowed never to cut down the sweet pear trees in his honor.
