不耻最后 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “not ashamed to be the last”. It encourages perseverance and implies that as long as one sticks to it until the end, they will eventually reach their objective, irrespective of their initial position. Literally, “not ashamed to be last”.
In ancient times, Lord Xiang of Zhao learned horsemanship from Wang Ziqi. Before long, he desired to challenge his master in a riding contest.
They exchanged horses and competed three times, but Lord Xiang failed on each occasion. He asked, "Have you not taught me the entirety of your horsemanship?"
Wang Ziqi replied, "The horsemanship has been fully imparted. The crucial point lies in how you apply your mind to control the horse. You were eager to catch up with me, yet at the same time, you feared falling behind, and that very fear is why you ultimately lagged."
