绝世佳人 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “a peerless beauty”. An unparalleled stunner. Literally, “Unrivaled beautiful woman”.
During the Han Dynasty, three siblings from the Li family in Zhongshan traveled to the capital, Chang'an, to seek their fortune.
The brother, Li Yannian, entered the imperial music bureau. He highly recommended his sister to Emperor Wu of Han, praising her as a peerless beauty, capable of captivating a city with one glance and a kingdom with a second.
Emperor Wu was delighted and summoned Li Yannian's sister, making her a favored concubine.
She later gave birth to Prince Liu He of Changyi, and Emperor Wu greatly cherished this exceptionally beautiful lady.
