He often visited the Nianquan Spring by Langya Mountain in the southwest suburbs, where there was a pavilion he named 'Zuiweng Pavilion' (The Old Drunkard's Pavilion). He frequently gathered with friends there to drink and celebrate.
As recorded in his essay 'The Old Drunkard's Pavilion': 'The joy of the feast is not from strings or flutes; the archers hit their targets, the chess players win their games, wine cups and tallies crisscross, and those who get up and sit down making noise are all joyful guests.'
