During the Jin Dynasty, Le Guang was highly appreciated by Grand Commandant Jia Chong, who recommended him to be the Governor of Henan. Le Guang, however, was unwilling to serve as an external official and thus asked Pan Yue to write 'A Memorial Declining the Post of Governor of Henan to the Grand Commandant.'
The renowned scholar Wang Yan greatly admired Le Guang, believing his words to be concise and profound.
Wei Jie's father, who was a tutor to the crown prince, praised Le Guang, saying he was like a 'water mirror among men,' and meeting him was 'like dispelling the clouds to see the sky.'
