Story:
During the Spring and Autumn period, Bian Que, a renowned physician from the State of Qi, heard that the Crown Prince of Guo had suddenly died.
He inquired about the prince's symptoms from the zhongshuzi (a court official) and concluded that the prince was merely in a state of suspended animation, not truly dead, and could be revived.
Bian Que instructed his disciple, Ziyang, to prepare acupuncture needles. He then inserted several needles into the prince's acupoints, and soon, the prince regained consciousness. After further treatment with herbal medicine, the prince made a full recovery within 20 days.
From then on, Bian Que earned the reputation of having 'miraculous hands that bring back spring' (妙手回春).
