Story:

During the Warring States period, the Qin state attacked the Zhao state. Lord Pingyuan of Zhao, accompanied by his retainer Mao Sui, went on an envoy mission to the Chu state.

In the Chu court, Mao Sui, with his eloquent speech, managed to persuade the King of Chu to send troops to rescue Zhao. The King of Chu then dispatched his army to aid Zhao.

Afterwards, Lord Pingyuan praised Mao Sui, saying that his three-inch tongue was more effective than a million soldiers, and that his single speech had made the state of Zhao as weighty as the Nine Tripods.
