掷果潘安 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “a man of exceptional beauty who is greatly admired by women”. A heartthrob. Literally, “Throwing fruit at Pan An”.
During the Jin Dynasty, there lived a man named Pan Yue, also known as Pan An, from Xingyang Zhongmou. He was exceptionally handsome and gifted in literature. At the age of twenty, he began his official career in the capital city of Luoyang.
Pan An frequently traveled in a luxurious carriage for hunting excursions outside the city. Wherever he went, crowds of women would gather to catch a glimpse of him. Such was his charm that even elderly women vied with each other to throw fruits into his carriage as a token of their deep admiration. Each time he returned, his carriage would be laden with the fruits they had tossed.
