冯驩弹铗 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “to lament being unrecognized or undervalued despite one's talent, expressing a desire for better treatment or opportunities; to seek patronage when feeling unappreciated”. Literally, “Feng Huan playing his sword”.
During the Warring States period, Feng Huan was a retainer of Lord Mengchang, the Prime Minister of Qi. Feeling unappreciated, he struck his sword thrice and sang, "Long sword, let's go home! No fish to eat! No carriage to ride! No means to support a family!"
Lord Mengchang was deeply moved and granted all his requests. Later, Feng Huan took the opportunity while collecting debts in Xue to devise a plan for Lord Mengchang, creating "three refuges" that ensured Lord Mengchang remained secure and invincible even after losing his position.
