King Zhaowang of Qin learned that King Hui of Zhao had obtained the He Shi Bi (a priceless jade disc) and intended to feign an exchange of 15 cities for it to trick him.
King Hui of Zhao sent Lin Xiangru to conduct the transaction.
After the King of Qin received the He Shi Bi, he refused to discuss the exchange of cities.
Lin Xiangru cleverly tricked the King of Qin into returning the He Shi Bi and secretly dispatched someone to send it back to Zhao overnight.
The King of Qin was furious and wanted to kill Lin Xiangru.
