韩信将兵 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “the more, the merrier”. The more, the better (referring to people or resources, implying that a larger quantity is always advantageous, especially in management or deployment). Literally, “Han Xin commanding soldiers”.
In the early Western Han Dynasty, Han Xin initially sought refuge with Xiang Yu but was not given important positions. He then went to Liu Bang, and after vigorous recommendation by Prime Minister Xiao He, he was appointed a Grand General of the Han army.
Once, Liu Bang asked Han Xin how many soldiers he could command. Han Xin replied, "The more, the better," which offended Liu Bang.
Later, after the Western Han Dynasty was consolidated, Han Xin was enfeoffed as the Marquis of Huaiyin, but was soon executed by the imperial court.
