束蕴乞火 is a Chinese idiom (chengyu) meaning “to seek help from others, often for advice or assistance in resolving a difficulty; to help others out of a predicament”. Literally, “Bundle kindling to beg for fire”.
Once upon a time, a mother-in-law falsely accused her daughter-in-law of stealing meat from the family. The daughter-in-law, unable to defend herself, was driven out of the house by her mother-in-law.
She had no choice but to seek help from a kind auntie next door to clear her name.
The auntie, knowing the daughter-in-law's character well, came up with a clever plan. She took a bundle of tangled hemp to the mother-in-law's house to borrow fire, casually mentioning that her own dog had been killed because it fought over meat stolen from another family.
Hearing this, the mother-in-law realized her mistake and quickly went to bring her daughter-in-law home.
