Story:

The idiom 'All within the Four Seas are brothers' originates from 'The Analects of Confucius, Yan Yuan chapter.'

The story tells of Confucius's disciple, Sima Niu, who once lamented to his fellow disciple Zixia, 'Everyone else has brothers, but I have none.'

Zixia then offered comforting words of wisdom. He explained, 'A gentleman is diligent and faultless in his work, and is courteous and respectful in his interactions with others. If one lives by these virtues, then all people across the world will be like brothers to him. What cause does a gentleman have to worry about having no brothers?'

This saying emphasizes that with a virtuous and respectful attitude, one will find kinship and friendship everywhere, making the entire world feel like a family.
